In loving memory of Loren Elwood "Sonny" Stroud, age 80, of Hardinsburg, who passed away peacefully at his home on November 27, 2023. Born on November 17, 1943, in Paoli to parents Elwood James "E.J." and Dorothy Lois (White) Stroud. Sonny worked as a self-employed livestock dealer and was a member of the Valeene Wesleyan Church, although he also attended the Community Tabernacle of Leavenworth.
He is survived by his daughters, Kim McCollom (Rick) of Hardinsburg, Terri Hawkins (Eric) of Paoli, Jennifer Nicholson (Chris) of Salem & Stacy Slaten (Michael) of Georgetown, and one son, Chad Stroud (Kate) of Sulphur. Sonny is also fondly remembered by his three sisters, Rebecca Haworth (James) of Paoli, Carolyn Dooley of Paoli & Marjorie Chastain (Rodney) of Paoli, and one brother, Steve Stroud (Sharon) of Milltown. His legacy continues through nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Elwood James "E.J." and Dorothy Lois (White) Stroud, three sisters, Brenda Parks, Janet Stroud, and Lorraine Stroud, and granddaughter Tabatha Hawkins.
Sonny’s life will be celebrated during a visitation on Thursday, November 30, from 11 AM until 1 PM at the Valeene Wesleyan Church. The funeral service will follow at 1 PM, officiated by Brothers Chad Stroud, Steve Stroud, and David Manship & Jesse Breeding. Sonny will be laid to rest in the Valeene Cemetery.
