Alta Marie Allen

Alta Marie Allen, 82, of Paoli, passed away on January 7, 2025, at the Villages of Oakridge in Washington, IN.

Born on September 16, 1942, in Paoli, she was the daughter of James V. and Tamar Marie (White) Busick. Alta married Ermel Allen on October 14, 1961. He preceded her in death on March 31, 2023.

Alta dedicated over 31 years of her career as secretary/treasurer for the Throop Elementary School System. She also had worked at Paoli Chair Co. formerly of Paoli. Alta was a devoted member of Cooks Chapel Church, where she played the piano for many years.

She is survived by her two sons, Kevin Allen of Paoli and Bryan Allen (Vickie) of Paoli; two granddaughters, Ashley Allen of Jeffersonville and Alyssa Allen of Paoli; and many friends and extended family members.

A graduate of Paoli High School, Class of 1960, Alta remained an active and beloved member of her community. She was a former member of the Joy Bells gospel quartet and cherished her time spent with family, friends, and her church.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at McAdams Mortuary in Paoli. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at McAdams Mortuary, officiated by Bro. Jared Hardin. Burial will follow at the Paoli Community Cemetery.

Friends and family are invited to visit with the family at McAdams Mortuary after 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 16, until the service begins. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Cooks Chapel Church, ℅ Kevin Allen- Superintendent, 8247 S. State Road 37, Paoli, IN 47454.
