Doris Lea Stroud

Doris Lea Stroud, 94, of Marengo, passed away on February 8, 2025, at her home.

She was born on June 18, 1930, in Valeene to parents Gilbert and Nellie (Underwood) Free. On June 1, 1948, she married Wayne O. Stroud, who preceded her in death on March 22, 2005.

Doris was retired from the Throop Elementary School cafeteria. She was a member of Harned Chapel Church and English Senior Citizens. She was formerly a member of The Eastern Star #485 of Marengo, and the Valeene Extension Homemakers Club. 

She is survived by her children:

 She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers Howard Free, Owen Free, Coen Free, and Clifford Free, her sister Ruth Newlin, and an infant brother, Max Wayne Free.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 11, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McAdams Mortuary, with an Eastern Star Service at 7 pm.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, February 12, at McAdams Mortuary, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Officiating will be Bro. Paul Richardson, Bro. Phillip Stroud, and Bro. Ryan Stroud. Burial will follow at Harned Chapel Cemetery in Bacon.
