Dr. Herb Stevens
Herbert Ray Stevens was born on April 7, 1941, near Ramsey, Indiana. He was the son of Annis Eckart and Ernest Stevens, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 45 ½ years, Annette (Condra) Stevens.
Also surviving are 3 sons: Chris (Jessica), Ben (Lesley), and Josh (Kristin) Stevens;
2 daughters, Sevina (Dan) Sakel, and Sarah (Daniel) Santomin.
Also 10 grandsons: Joseph Sakel, Jackson, Asher, Solomon, Harvey, Raleigh, Bayer, and Owen Stevens, Shepherd and Ark Santomin.
7 granddaughters, Tori (Ben) Wake, Ella, Liv, Lucy, and Amelia Stevens, Savior and Eden Santomin, one great-grandson.
Also surviving are 2 sisters, Phyllis (Dennis) Babcock and Karen (Steve) Jones, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Herb practiced dentistry in Paoli for 48 ½ years, retiring in June 2018. Herb was also active in the Lions Club, receiving many awards on the club, district, state, and international levels. He was a member of Gideons International. He was one of the original developers of Paoli Peaks.
Herb enjoyed studying God’s Word and led numerous Bible studies and taught Sunday School class for many years, starting in his early twenties up until just recently. He memorized many passages of scripture, along with the rest of the family. Herb went on mission trips, doing dentistry on some of those occasions.
He enjoyed collecting various items, among which were clocks, hammers, books, and tools. He enjoyed hunting as a youth and went on some hunting trips with friends.
Herb was a member of Graceland Baptist Church for 35+ years, but more recently attended Paoli Wesleyan Church.
Visitation for Dr. Herb Stevens will be on Saturday, January 25 from 10 AM until 1 pm at McAdams Mortuary. The funeral will follow at 1 pm with Col. Bill Willis and Bro. Lyndel Manship officiating. Burial will be in Paoli Community Cemetery. For condolences visit mcadamsmortuary.com.
