Larry Richard Wells, age 78, entered into eternal rest on March 24, 2025, at Baptist Health Floyd. Born on January 14, 1947, in Orangeville, Indiana to Richard Dolphus Wells and Betty Lois (Roach) Grim.
Larry was a United States Navy Veteran, serving in Vietnam. While serving Larry was stationed on the USS Eldorado and during his tour, he received numerous letters of commendations and medals including a Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with a Bronze Star. Other commendations he received are Meritorious Unit Commendation, a Good Conduct Medal, a Combat Action Ribbon and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Following his time in the service Larry married Eleanor Kay Brewer on April 28, 1972. She preceeded him in death. Larry enjoyed his time farming and working as a mechanic before he became an over the road truck driver. Larry retired as an owner-operator and continued to enjoy his family and pets until his passing.
Survivors include his two daughters, Lou Ann Hopkins (Wayne) of West Baden, and Ginger Breeden of Paoli; four grandchildren; Vincent Hopkins of Salem, Jasmine Snyder (Chris) of Charlotte, NC, Jacob Hopkins (Cara) of Scottsburg, and Trey Breeden (Jade) of Paoli; six great grandchildren, Bentley Hopkins, Wyatt Hopkins, Harper Berry, Bo Breeden, Berkley Breeden and Aunaka Snyder. Other survivors include two brothers, Billy Jo Wells, Junior Wells; five sisters, Sharon Elkins, Carol Wiggins, Sheila Watson, Teresa Caudill and Lisa Gerig; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Larry was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister, Ruth Ann Patton and brother, Keith Tuell.
Funeral for Larry Wells will be at 12pm on Saturday, March 29 at McAdams Mortuary. Visitation will be from 4-7pm Friday, March 28 and after 10am until the service time on Saturday. Bro.
