Marvin Paul Montgomery, age 76, died Saturday, May 30, at his home in Jasper. Marvin was born to Wayne and Beulah (Abel) Montgomery on March 16, 1944, in Martin County, Indiana. He was a graduate of Shoals High School. Marvin worked for The Old Paths Tract Society, US Gypsum, was a photographer for years, and since 1996, has owned Marvin’s Computer Shop in Haysville, IN. He was a very talented musician and singer. He was a member of Victory Assembly of God in Jasper where he served as deacon and on the Worship Team for many years.
Montgomery married Joyce Marie Bobbitt in Shoals, IN on July 20. 1963 she preceded Marvin in death on October 25, 2015. He is also preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Melody Mosier, sister, Wilma Albright; and brothers, Kenneth, Danny, and Donnie Montgomery.
Surviving Montgomery is one daughter; Melba Covel and her husband John of Loogootee; one son; Ansel Montgomery and his wife Becca of Jasper, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, two brothers, Robert and Stanley Montgomery both of Shoals; sister, Eileen and her husband, Wayne Sanders of Salem, OH, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service for Marvin Montgomery will be 1pm Wednesday, June 3 at McAdams Mortuary. Pastor Joel Rivera will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Hardinsburg, IN. Friends may call from 11am-1pm Wednesday June 3 at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions be made in Marvin’s honor to any local church, as he loved helping out the churches and pastors of the community.
