In loving memory of Roger Alsten Cook, age 90, born on March 19, 1933, and passed away on March 11, 2024, at IU Health Bedford Hospital. Roger was the son of Alsten Cook and Mary Belle (Apple) Cook. He was a U.S. Army Korean War Veteran serving from 1953-1955. Roger worked at JayC Foods of English, where he served as a manager, and later worked at Kroger in New Albany. He loved church and attended Lost River Missionary Baptist in Campbellsburg. Working word search puzzles was one of his favorite pastimes.
Surviving Roger Alsten Cook are his children- Pamela Rayner of Guntersville, AL, and Jeffrey Cook and Sheila of Orleans. Three grandchildren will carry on his memory- Andrea (Brown) Goodson, Dylan Wilson, and Candace Cook-Cline, with six great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, son- Steven Cook, brother- Victor Cook, sisters- Ruth Waynick and Lucille Waynick, grandchild- Eric Brown and great-granddaughter- Brooke.
A graveside service to honor Roger Cook's life will be held on Thursday, March 14, at Moores Ridge Cemetery at 10 AM. Brother Jeff Cook will officiate the ceremony. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #69 of Orleans. McAdams Mortuary is entrusted with the arrangements, and condolences can be shared at mcadamsmortuary.com.
