Roy Gene Grimes

Roy Gene Grimes, aged 68, of Paoli, passed away on November 8, 2023, at his home. He was born on March 3, 1955, to Roy W. Grimes and Ida Pearl (Apple) Grimes. On April 8, 1994, he married Melva Payton. Roy was a dedicated US Navy Veteran and served his community as a retired technology supervisor for 20 years at Orleans Community Schools. He was also a proud member of the Marengo Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his loving wife, Melva Grimes of Paoli, and their daughters, Kimberly Burton and husband Rockco, Laura Evans and husband Brian all of Paoli & David Grimes and his wife Christina of French Lick. Roy is also survived by his sister, Janet Guinn of Corydon, and cherished grandchildren: Peyten VanMeter (Lincoln), Conner Evans, Addison Evans, David Evans, and Violet Evans. Additionally, he is survived by his brother-in-laws, Keith Walker of Marengo and Jim Payton of Paoli and several nieces and nephews.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, as well as two brothers, Leroy and William Grimes, and a sister, Martha Walker.

The visitation will be from 5-8pm Friday, November 10 at McAdams Mortuary. There will be a Masonic service at 7pm Friday. A funeral service to celebrate Roy's life will be held on Saturday, November 11, at 1 o'clock at the funeral home, with Bro. Harvey McAdams officiating. Burial will take place at Paoli Community Cemetery. McAdams Mortuary is handling the arrangements. Roy Gene Grimes will be remembered for the love he shared with his family and community.
