Virginia Elizabeth Hardy

Virginia Elizabeth Hardy, 70, of New Albany, passed away on September 1, 2024, at Baptist Health in New Albany. She was born on July 8, 1954, to her beloved mother, Alma Cooksey.

Virginia retired from the U.S. Census Bureau after many years of service.

She is survived by her daughters: Amanda Chambers (Derek L Cummings ) of Louisville, KY, and Renee E. Zearing (Nevin) of Jeffersonville; sons: Michael “Josh” Hardy of Scottsburg, and Andrew Hardy of New Albany. 

Her memory lives on in her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Peanut Cummings, Meagan Jackson, Blake Hardy, Ryan Hardy, Joshua Hardy Jr., Gabriel Hardy, Jax H., Bubby Davis, and Trinity Higdon.

Virginia is also survived by her dear sisters, Deborah Fey of Valley Station, KY and Laura Key of Campbellsville, KY, as well as her brother, Ted M. Key of Jeffersonville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother -David Cooksey, and her granddaughter- Madison Zearing.
